Swire Shipping Fijian Drua debutant Issak Fines-Leleiwasa expressed immense pride in his first appearance for the team, despite their defeat to Moana Pasifika in the opening match of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific. The halfback, who stepped onto the field wearing the Drua colors for the first time, described the experience as a significant milestone for both himself and his family.

Leleiwasa acknowledged the disappointment of the loss but emphasized that donning the Drua jersey is about more than just the scoreline. “It’s obviously disappointing with the result, but I’m super grateful for the opportunity to don these colours. It’s a proud moment for me and my family,” he shared.

Understanding that sentiment alone won’t change the outcome, Leleiwasa is focused on moving forward and is already eyeing redemption as the team prepares for their upcoming clash against the New South Wales Waratahs. He noted the importance of learning from past mistakes, stating, “We’ve got to get back to the drawing board, fix a few things, and we’ll be ready.”

This week, the Drua will face a challenging match against the Waratahs, which Leleiwasa anticipates will be a physical encounter, particularly with several familiar faces on the opposing team. Following this away game, the Drua will return to their home ground to host the Hurricanes.

As the team prepares for another opportunity to showcase their skills, Leleiwasa’s debut marks the beginning of what could be an exciting journey for both him and the Drua. Fans can catch the upcoming match against the Waratahs live on FBC Sports this Friday at 8:35 PM.
