Victoria “PorkChop” Parker, the RuPaul’s Drag Race season 1 icon, has been hospitalised after falling ill following a meal from a major grocery chain, Parker’s team said in a handwritten note shared this week by production company World of Wonder. The note says Parker suffered severe symptoms for three days before emergency services were called; he remains under care and is expected to make a full recovery after treatment.

According to the message addressed to longtime show producer Thairin Smothers, Parker began vomiting, suffered diarrhoea and became severely dehydrated “shortly after eating the hamburger.” Those symptoms persisted for roughly 72 hours, at which point 911 was dialled and Parker was taken to hospital by ambulance. The note added that he is currently bed‑bound and will need a visiting nurse and physical therapist, with an anticipated period of limited mobility for the next 14 to 21 days.

Parker’s team appealed to fans and the wider community for practical support to help with recovery. Immediate needs listed include a motorised scooter to aid mobility and assistance with personal 24‑hour security. “Sometimes a small act of kindness can make a meaningful difference for someone who has spent so many years bringing joy to others,” the note said, urging those who can to lend support.

A GoFundMe page set up to help cover Parker’s expenses had raised about $4,200 as of Saturday afternoon. Among the donors listed are Drag Race alumna Bianca Del Rio, who gave $100, fellow queen DD Fuego, and World of Wonder itself, which is recorded as a $1,500 contributor. The fundraising page and the note shared by World of Wonder are the primary public details available about the performer’s condition and needs.

Parker, who became one of the show’s most recognisable early figures as the first queen eliminated from the Emmy‑winning series in 2009, has continued to appear in Drag Race related programming and other projects over the years. Her name inspired the “PorkChop Loading Dock” segment in season 13, and she appeared in the 2021 television comedy The Bitch Who Stole Christmas. The personal note about the recent health setback was shared privately but posted publicly by World of Wonder and addressed only to “Thairin,” reinforcing the ties between Parker and longtime members of the show’s production team.

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to a representative for Parker for further information. For now, Parker’s team is focused on medical care and recovery, while urging fans and colleagues to consider assistance for the practical needs that will ease the next few weeks of convalescence. The update frames this as a temporary but serious health interruption for an established figure in the Drag Race community, with supporters already beginning to mobilise.
