Rugby enthusiasts are set for an exciting evening next Saturday as the Fijian Drua and Fiji Rugby Union prepare for a noteworthy double-header at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. The event features the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua challenging the Queensland Reds, followed by the Vodafone Fijiana taking on the visiting Wallaroos.

Shane Hussein, General Manager Commercial for the Fijian Drua, expressed enthusiasm about the double-header format, offering fans two high-caliber matches for a single ticket price. Tickets start at $25 for the Grass Embankment and range up to $75 for seating in the main stands. This pricing strategy reflects an initiative to bring more fans into the stadium and boost community support for the teams.

Alana Thomas, the Women’s High-Performance Manager for Fiji Rugby, commented on the occasion, stating that the match against the Wallaroos will be particularly special as it marks the Vodafone Fijiana’s 42nd Test and 12th played on home soil. Emphasizing the importance of commencing this year’s campaign on a strong note, Thomas aims for the team to make a significant impact during this competitive fixture.

The event promises not only to showcase elite rugby but also to stimulate further interest and support for women’s rugby in Fiji. As the Fijiana prepares to face a top-tier opponent like the Wallaroos, it symbolizes a significant milestone for women’s sports in the region and a chance to inspire the next generation of female athletes.

With the scheduled kickoff for the Fijian Drua at 2:05 PM, followed by the Fijiana at 5 PM, fans are encouraged to rally behind their teams and celebrate this remarkable occasion in Fijian rugby history. The anticipation surrounding the event highlights hopes for a vibrant future for rugby in Fiji, especially for women’s competitions.
