The General Secretary of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP) has announced that internal party processes are being initiated to evaluate the situation concerning Lynda Tabuya, a party member and Member of Parliament. Tabuya was removed from her cabinet position last week following the leak and circulation of an explicit video.

Balawa, the General Secretary, explained that a disciplinary committee is currently reviewing the case, and Tabuya will have the opportunity to present her side before the committee. The committee, which consists of six members, is tasked with conducting an independent investigation over the next 21 days, after which they will report their findings to party management. Balawa emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity and privacy of the process, ensuring that it is carried out fairly and without external influence.

The PAP Executive Committee convened to discuss the matter further, with Party Leader and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka participating in the meeting via virtual means from Vanua Levu. Other senior executives also joined remotely, while several members attended the meeting at the PAP Headquarters.

This situation reflects the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability, as they navigate a challenging issue while allowing due process for all involved. It is a reminder of the importance of handling sensitive matters with care and respect for the individuals at the center of such issues.

Summary: The People’s Alliance Party is addressing the case of Lynda Tabuya through a disciplinary committee, where she will be allowed to present her case. The committee is expected to conduct its investigation with fairness and privacy over the next three weeks.
