Eighty percent of movie transactions at Damodar Cinema locations throughout Fiji are facilitated via Vodafone’s M-PAiSA digital wallet. This statistic was shared by Div Damodar, the chief executive officer of Damodar Group, during the renewal of their partnership with Vodafone Fiji for the M-PAiSA Blockbuster Wednesday initiative.

Mr. Damodar highlighted the success of this initiative, which launched a couple of years ago and has seen consistent engagement. Following the expiration of their previous contract in November, the two companies signed a new agreement to continue their collaboration.

In addition to the ongoing partnership, Mr. Damodar expressed interest in exploring more digital payment platforms, emphasizing the importance of digitization and the pivotal role Vodafone plays in advancing Fiji’s digital landscape.

Shailendra Prasad, Vodafone Fiji’s head of e-commerce, revealed their aspirations for a cashless economy in Fiji. He indicated that the popularity of the Wednesday blockbuster movie deal has prompted a significant number of inquiries from customers eager to see its return.

The promotion allows families to maximize value; for instance, purchasing three tickets grants an additional three for free, translating to a 50 percent discount at premier cinemas. The initiative also aims to boost customer engagement through prizes and increased social media interaction.

Prasad noted that such initiatives facilitate the transition towards digital payments and remain a key focus for the company moving forward. This forward-thinking approach fosters a more technologically adept society, encouraging consumers to embrace digital solutions.

This partnership reflects a growing trend in the cinema industry, where digital transactions become increasingly commonplace, offering convenience and benefits for consumers while simultaneously aligning with the global push toward cashless economies.

Summary: Damodar Cinema’s partnership with Vodafone’s M-PAiSA digital wallet has successfully driven 80 percent of movie transactions through the platform. The new agreement, characterized by exciting promotions, aims to shift consumer behavior towards digital payments in Fiji, contributing to the nation’s digital evolution.
