Initial investigations by the National Fire Authority have indicated that the fire that devastated Aosen Food Takeaways in Nabua likely originated from the cooking area at the rear of the establishment. NFA Chief Executive Puamau Sowane stated that fire investigators will begin their work soon to ascertain the precise cause of the fire.

The concrete structure, topped with a corrugated iron roof, suffered approximately 80 percent damage, leading to an estimated loss of $100,000. Sowane urged business owners, particularly those operating eateries, to exercise caution by properly storing flammable materials and preparing for potential fire emergencies. He emphasized that training for restaurant staff regarding fire emergency responses is crucial in mitigating damage and ensuring safety.

This incident highlights a broader issue related to fire safety awareness and preparedness, echoed in a recent tragic fire incident that occurred in Naidovi, Cuvu, where a double-storey building, housing a shopping complex and residential apartments, was completely destroyed. The quick response from firefighters successfully prevented further damage and potential injury, underscoring the importance of having trained professionals ready to manage emergencies.

As the local community reflects on these events, there is hope that greater vigilance and fire safety practices will emerge as a collective response to such tragedies. By fostering a culture of preparedness, residents can help prevent future incidents and improve overall safety in their businesses and homes.
