The upgrade project at Westin Resort and Spa in Denarau is on track to conclude next month, with a soft launch scheduled before the resort fully opens later this year, confirmed Finance Minister Esrom Immanuel.
Immanuel stated that the resort is planning a soft opening in March, followed by a full operational launch in June, coinciding with the completion of all enhancement works. He noted that previously existing contractual issues between the contractors, Fletcher Construction, and the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) have now been resolved.
“The problems between Fletcher Construction and FNPF have been addressed, and we are optimistic about the timeline,” said Immanuel.
The construction at the resort had faced delays late last year due to these disputes, but the matter was successfully resolved in November. This outcome has paved the way for the refurbishment project to move forward, ensuring that the resort can resume full operations and offer its range of services.
The anticipated completion of the upgrades is expected to not only enhance guest experiences but also invigorate Denarau’s tourism sector as it continues to recover. This rejuvenation underlines the commitment to restoring the island’s appeal as a premier travel destination.
