The 2026 Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series will commence a week later than originally planned, with the opening match now set for February 8. This adjustment was confirmed during the official launch of the series at the Fiji Football Association Headquarters in Vatuwaqa.

Marking its 25th edition, the renowned Champion vs Champion series will see the Extra Premier League champions, Rewa FC, face off against the Extra BOG champions, Labasa FC, in a two-legged contest. This match-up is eagerly anticipated as it represents the first piece of silverware for the new season.

The first leg of the series is scheduled to take place on February 8 at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori. Meanwhile, the return leg is tentatively set for February 14 at Subrail Park in Labasa. However, the playing conditions at Subrail Park remain subject to confirmation, with Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf stating that the Labasa Town Council has until Wednesday to verify the venue’s readiness.

If the venue is deemed unfit for play, the decisive match will be relocated to the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, with a potential new date of February 5. This revision underscores the commitment to uphold the high standards associated with one of Fiji football’s premier competitions, while also heightening the excitement surrounding the fierce Rewa–Labasa rivalry.

It is an opportunity for both teams to showcase their talent and deliver an exciting start to the season, continuing the tradition of passionate competition in Fiji’s football landscape.
