Dedicated Nadi Businessman Spurs Environmental Cleanliness on Denarau Road

For the past two decades, Adrian Sofield, a businessman from Nadi, has tirelessly cleared rubbish along Denarau Road.

Yesterday, he was spotted once again collecting litter along the roadside, a task he undertakes regularly. Mr Sofield commutes from his home in Votualevu, a brief five-minute drive to Denarau, for these clean-up efforts.

As the managing director of Earth (South Pacific) Limited, Mr Sofield shared that he and his family have been committed to this activity for the past 20 years.

“I’ve been consistently picking up rubbish here. Often, people park, eat, and leave their rubbish behind. Some even toss their litter along the roadside while traveling to or from Denarau,” he explained.

“It’s disheartening to see this litter.”

Mr Sofield emphasized the importance of keeping Denarau Road clean, especially since it is a major route for tourists.

“This road leads to five-star hotels. Don’t we want tourists to see a clean environment? We should take pride in our surroundings,” he said.

“I choose to do this to highlight the importance of maintaining our environment.”

Mr Sofield has a substantial background in public service. He has previously served as the chairman of Fijian Holdings Limited (FHL), Airports Fiji Limited, and Rewa Dairy Limited.

Additionally, he has served as chairman of Investment Fiji, director of Housing Authority and Public Rental Boards, and chairman of Fiji Hardwood Corporation. He currently holds the position of chairman for Naisoso Island Corporate.

Now, Mr Sofield runs his own company, Earth (South Pacific) Limited, in Nadi, which provides sustainable wastewater, sewage, and odor control solutions.
