Jonathan Hill secured a victory over Rupeni Rokoratu by knockout in the second round during the South Pacific Boxing Promotion at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday. Hill managed to overpower the larger Rokoratu with a strategic punch to the chest.
Hill acknowledged a 10-kilogram weight difference but remained confident in his ability to win. He drew parallels to the biblical story of David and Goliath, stating, “The game was between a middleweight and heavyweight.”
He explained that his approach involved tiring his opponent in the first round before landing his signature body shot. While he recognized Rokoratu’s skills as a fighter, he felt that composure was lacking on his opponent’s part.
Hill concluded by expressing hope for greater competition in Labasa, which would provide tougher challenges for local fighters.
