The Lami Darts Association has received crucial support with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LICI) stepping in as a sponsor for the upcoming LICI Sponsored Lami Darts Association open doubles tournament. This highly anticipated event will occur tomorrow at the Fiji Club in Suva, featuring 32 teams comprising 64 players from Fiji and the South Pacific.
Akash Kumar, the sales manager at LICI, expressed his enthusiasm for the competition, noting Fiji’s impressive ranking of 4th in the South Pacific darts scene. He highlighted the importance of such tournaments in fostering the sport’s growth in the region, stating, “Watching this athlete play with passion and determination is truly inspiring.” Kumar emphasized the company’s belief in utilizing sports as a means to empower the younger generation, steering them away from negative influences.
Maciu Seru, vice president of the Lami Darts Association, extended his gratitude to LICI for their sponsorship while highlighting the organization’s mission to revitalise darts in Lami. He emphasized that darts transcends boundaries in Fiji, welcoming participants of various shapes, sizes, and ages. Seru also invited anyone interested in exploring darts or engaging in a new sport to join the community.
Comments from this tournament reflect a growing enthusiasm for darts in Fiji, similar to sentiments shared recently regarding the South Pacific Darts Championship. Previous reports indicated that such events, like the upcoming championship in January, have played a vital role in increasing interest in darts across the nation by providing a platform for players to gain experience and showcase their skills.
The ongoing support from sponsors like LICI and Extra Supermarket signifies a determined effort to develop the sport within Fiji and create more opportunities for players. As communities rally behind these events, there is hope that these investments will significantly benefit the growth of darts, inspiring future generations to engage in the sport and compete on both local and international stages.
