The Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team is focused on refining their skills, particularly in scrums. Assistant coach Samisoni Navatu shared this update following their surprising 23-22 victory over the favored Ratu Kadavulevu School in the quarterfinals of the Vodafone Deans Trophy.
Navatu acknowledged the need for improvement, despite their recent success. He described the match as intense and expressed gratitude for their win. “We came here with the goal to win and we did that. Credit to the boys for a job well done,” he stated.
There was some confusion regarding the final score, as officials initially declared RKS the winner; however, this decision was later overturned in favor of Cuvu College. Navatu noted that while some team members are still 17 years old, they successfully rose to the challenge.
He is urging the team’s loyal supporters to turn out in large numbers for the upcoming semifinal against Nasinu Secondary School scheduled for Saturday.
