Cuvu College’s Under-18 Rugby Team Upsets the Favorites: What’s Next?

The Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team is focusing on enhancing their performance, particularly in the scrums. This update was provided to SUNsports by assistant coach Samisoni Navatu.

Navatu noted, “There is still room for improvement,” even after Cuvu College achieved a surprising 23-22 victory over Ratu Kadavulevu School, a top contender for the Vodafone Deans Trophy, during the quarterfinal match. He described the game as a challenging battle.

“Glory to God for this win,” Navatu expressed. “We came here with the goal to win and we accomplished that. Credit to the boys for a job well done.”

He also mentioned that there was some confusion regarding the final score, as officials initially declared RKS the winner. “We were relieved when the decision was reversed, but the job is not done yet. Some of our players are still 17 years old while some are 18, but they managed to rise to the occasion,” he added.

Navatu is urging their loyal supporters to come out in large numbers to cheer for them in the semi-final against Nasinu Secondary School on Saturday.
