Cricket Fiji is set to resume its Women’s League competition next weekend, marking the start of the 2026 domestic season. The league, which began last year, took a break during the festive season, and its revival is eagerly anticipated by fans and players alike.

Chief Executive Officer Sitiveni Rokoro emphasized the importance of the league in preparing for the upcoming Women’s Under-19 World Cup Qualifiers. He noted that the competition will serve as a valuable platform for coaches to make selections for the national team.

Rokoro mentioned that the under-19 trials would take place on January 14 at Albert Park, with hopes of attracting participants from Nadi to expand the talent pool for a wider training squad ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers scheduled for April in Papua New Guinea.

This season’s league features eight teams from the central division and six teams from Nadi, culminating in finals that will be held on January 17. The competition promises to be an exciting showcase of talent as players vie for recognition and the chance to represent their country on the international stage.

With the focus on nurturing young talent, Cricket Fiji is paving the way for future successes in women’s cricket, fostering enthusiasm and engagement in the sport throughout the region.
