Cricket Fiji has set ambitious targets for the upcoming year as it aims to achieve several strategic objectives leading up to 2026. With a busy calendar ahead, the organization is focused on improving the global rankings of both its national Men’s and Women’s teams. CEO Siti Rokoro highlighted the importance of enhanced training programs and strategic planning to boost the teams’ performance on the international stage.

A critical goal for Cricket Fiji involves securing a dedicated piece of land for the establishment of a full-time cricket facility. This facility is envisioned to provide essential training spaces, match venues, and development programs that will significantly enhance the cricketing experience for players and fans alike.

Rokoro also emphasized the need to strengthen the domestic competition structure, which is seen as vital for nurturing local talent and providing a clear progression pathway for players to advance in the sport. By improving the quality of domestic leagues and tournaments, Cricket Fiji looks to create a more competitive environment.

One of the organization’s major aspirations is to qualify the national U19 women’s team for the 2027 U19 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Bangladesh and Nepal. This goal will necessitate rigorous training and active participation in the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup East Asia Pacific Qualifier in Papua New Guinea in April 2026.

In preparation for the upcoming tournaments, Cricket Fiji is gearing up for significant contests. The ICC U19 Women’s World Cup – East Asia Pacific Qualifier in April 2026 will see Fiji compete against teams from Indonesia, PNG, Samoa, and Vanuatu. In May 2026, the ICC Senior Men’s World Cup EAP Qualifier in Japan will pit Fiji against teams like Cook Islands, Indonesia, and South Korea, among others, in a bid for qualification for the next global qualifier in 2027.

Looking back at the successes of the 2025 season, Cricket Fiji celebrated notable achievements, including the Fiji women’s team’s victory over the higher-ranked France team in the Pacific French Women’s Tournament and the successful hosting of the Women’s East Asia Pacific World Cup Qualifier. These accomplishments lay a strong foundation for the ambitious targets set for the future.
