Two men are scheduled to appear in court today regarding alleged unlawful possession of methamphetamine in separate incidents.
In the first case, a man faces a charge of Unlawful Possession of Illicit Drugs after a vehicle search in Narere on August 1, 2025, revealed white substances confirmed to be methamphetamine. The search also resulted in the seizure of over $2,000 in cash, leading the Criminal Investigations Department to investigate further for possible possession of proceeds from criminal activities. He is set to appear at the Nasinu Magistrates Court.
Meanwhile, another individual has been charged with multiple offenses, including Unlawful Possession of Illicit Drugs, Possession of Property Suspected of Being Proceeds of Crime, and two counts of Breach of Bail. This suspect was arrested during a checkpoint operation in Wainadoi on July 31, 2025, where he was allegedly found with methamphetamine and a substantial amount of cash. He is due to appear at the Navua Magistrates Court.
Additionally, a third individual arrested at the same checkpoint is under investigation for suspected unexplained wealth after he was discovered with several thousand dollars in cash.
The police are continuing their investigations into all three individuals, reflecting ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug-related offenses. This commitment has been echoed in recent operations throughout Fiji, demonstrating a proactive approach to ensuring community safety and addressing the illicit drug trade. These court appearances will provide an opportunity for the judicial system to address these allegations and further highlight the importance of collaborative efforts by law enforcement to promote public welfare amid growing concerns over drug-related issues.
With community support and vigilance, there remains a hopeful outlook for reducing crime and enhancing public safety in the region.
