Preparations for the upcoming Municipal Council elections are nearing completion, according to Minister for Local Government Maciu Nalumisa. He stated that the only remaining step is receiving confirmation from the Attorney General’s office on several matters.

“We are at the end of our preparation,” Nalumisa remarked. “We are just awaiting confirmation from the AG’s office on a few things before we can get a confirmation from Cabinet on our next line of action.”

The minister emphasized that organizing these elections is a crucial part of the Coalition Government’s agenda. “We are positive. It’s part of our plan,” he added.

Nalumisa highlighted the significance of these elections, noting that it has been a long time since the last local government elections were held, which took place in 2005. He expressed the importance of getting all details right, stating, “We are just finalizing a few things from the AG’s office before we get confirmation from Cabinet on the dates and all these things.”

The anticipated elections mark a pivotal shift in local governance, invigorating hope for active community engagement and representation after a lengthy gap.
