Weather Update

Brought to you live, bright and early from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi, at 5:30am on the 18th of June, 2025.

Hold onto your hats, folks, because a cool dry southerly breeze is sweeping through the country like it just found out it won the lottery!

Here’s what’s in store for the denizens of the Fiji group before your night caps are on: Expect a patchwork of partly cloudy skies with a sprinkle of brief showers in the southeastern nooks of Viti Levu (from Serua/Namosi all the way to Suva and Korovou), as well as in Kadavu, Yasawa, the lovely Lomaiviti, Lau Group, and the southern parts of Vanua Levu (southern Bua and Cakaudrove Province). Taveuni and those tiny islands nearby might get in on the action too. Everywhere else? Well, it’s mostly fine and dandy! Don’t forget to throw in a sweater or two for the cool evenings.

As for our trusty wind, it’s strutting its stuff out there as a moderate southerly—ramping up to fresh gusts now and then. Oh, and if you’re venturing onto the seas, brace yourself for moderate to rough conditions. Remember, no surfing with a newspaper under your arm!

Looking ahead to Thursday: more of the same! Brief showers donning their party hats over the interior and southeastern regions of Viti Levu, with similar weather across Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and our friendly island groups. The rest can expect clear skies, fabulous!

In Navua, Suva, and Nausori, brace for that same patchy cloud cover and the occasional shower, with night temperatures dipping enough to make you want to cuddle your blanket.

As for the sunny shores of Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, mostly fine with a cool breeze lulling you to sleep at night. Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba? You guessed it—mainly clear skies, perfect for stargazing or plotting your next big adventure!

Tavua and Rakiraki, you’re in for a treat too with the fine weather continuing.

Over in Natadradave and Korovou, anticipate some playful clouds with brief showers; same goes for Yasawa and Mamanuca.

Labasa and Savusavu are serving up partly cloudy skies with those pesky brief showers likely making an appearance.

As for Lau/Lomaiviti and Kadavu, expect radiant clouds chiming in with brief showers, just to remind you that they’re around!

Finally, if you’re in Rotuma, a feeble trough of low pressure is creeping up just south of you with cloudy periods and a sprinkle of showers ready to make an appearance later today.

So, whether you’re planning a beach day or a cozy night in, don’t forget to keep an eye on those showers—there’s nothing like a surprise downpour to shake things up! Stay breezy and cool tonight!
