Colgate’s $15,000 Boost for Fiji’s Dental Future

Fiji Colgate, a leading name in global oral care, has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing oral health in Fiji by donating $15,000 FJD to the Fiji Dental Association’s Annual Conference.

For the past 14 years, Colgate has actively supported dental professionals in Fiji and the Pacific, showcasing the company’s dedication to their ongoing education and professional development.

The Fiji Dental Association considers the conference, scheduled for August 24 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa, an essential event for experts focused on improving oral health standards in the region. Colgate’s support highlights its deep-rooted commitment to the communities it serves, embodying the core values that contribute to its success both locally and globally.

Founded in Fiji in 1974, Colgate has been a pioneer in dental health education. The “Bright Smiles, Bright Futures” (BSBF) initiative, which launched in Fiji in 1996, has expanded to other Pacific Island nations, forging strong partnerships with government bodies, dental professionals, educational institutions, and local communities. Each year, Colgate donates approximately 200,000 toothbrush kits to various community and educational projects.

The company also provides toothpaste and over 150,000 toothbrushes for Fiji’s annual National Tooth Brushing Day, participated in the 2004 Fiji National Oral Health Surveys that aided the Ministry of Health in developing crucial oral health policies, and established the Colgate IADR Student Travel Award in 2007 to support final-year dental students. Additionally, Colgate supported the Ministry of Health’s medical bus initiative in 2012 to ensure ongoing community outreach.

Colgate remains committed to facilitating conferences and promoting continued education in dentistry. The partnership with the Fiji Dental Association has strengthened over the years, and this recent contribution reflects their shared commitment to advancing dental healthcare standards in Fiji.

On August 14, at the Naidu Dental Clinic in Nadi, representatives from the Fiji Dental Association and Colgate participated in a check-handover ceremony, further solidifying the strong relationship Colgate has established with dental experts in Fiji. The company aims to nurture this partnership for many years to come.

Looking ahead, Colgate is eager to continue supporting the dental community in Fiji, working collaboratively to improve oral health outcomes in the region. The cooperation between Colgate and the Fiji Dental Association exemplifies how partnerships can drive positive change and ensure communities receive top-quality dental care and education.
