Weather Update: Brace Yourselves for Some Coastal Comedy!

Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi, at 3:30pm on June 3rd, 2025.

Attention, coastal dwellers! A Coastal Inundation Alert is still in trendy practice for the fabulous coastlines of Sigatoka (yes, Coral Coast is in the mix!), Serua/Namosi, Mamanuca group (including the celebrity Malolo), Kadavu, Lau, and the scenic Lomaiviti groups. It’s all about keeping those sandy toes high and dry!

Here’s the scoop: A charming southeast wind flow is spreading its wings across our islands. Meanwhile, a high-pressure area down south is sending moderate to heavy southerly swells our way, almost like it’s trying to tickle us with some epic waves.

What can you expect before the clock strikes midnight?

For our beloved coastal areas from Sigatoka to Lau and beyond: prepare for some sea shenanigans as coastal flooding is likely during high tides—so keep your flip-flops handy! You might catch a few brief showers in the rain-friendly zones of Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra, and others. But don’t worry, mainly fine weather will continue elsewhere. The nights will be cooler, so you might want to cuddle up with that extra blanket!

As for the winds, expect moderate to fresh southeast breezes turning a bit more easterly tonight—kind of like a mid-week twist on your usual wind direction. Seas will be moderate to rough, so if you’re thinking of a midnight dip, it might be an adventure!

Now, let’s peek at Thursday’s forecast: be ready for occasional showers sauntering in from the west, eventually making their way over the whole group later in the day. Showers will likely get a bit more frequent (and possibly dramatic) by the afternoon, along with some isolated thunderstorms trying to crash the party. Don’t forget the gusty northeasterly winds adding a bit of flair—think of them as Mother Nature’s special effects team. The seas? Oh, they’ll stay on the moderate to rough side, too.

In the specific areas:

– For Navua / Suva / Nausori: It’s mostly fine—minus a few sprinkles—try to avoid those puddles! The nights will be cool.

– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: High tide might play tricks by flooding coastal zones. Ah, the joys of nature! Main weather is fine and cool at night.

– Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Cookies and cream weather here—mostly fine with a side of cool nights!

– Tavua/Rakiraki: A sprinkling of showers over Ra, but otherwise, it’s smooth sailing. Cool nights ahead!

– Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Keep an eye on those high tides for possible flooding, but enjoy the fine weather while it lasts!

– For Labasa: You guessed it—mainly fine, with cool nights keeping those blankets in business.

– Savusavu: A mix of fine weather and brief showers, but overnight chilliness is on the menu!

– Lau/Lomaiviti and Kadavu: High tides might have a few tricks up their sleeves, with occasional showers popping in!

– And let’s not forget Rotuma, where a Strong Wind Warning is still the talk of the town. Those easterly winds, gusty moments, and occasional thunderstorms are behaving a bit wild, so hold onto your hats!

So there you have it! While the weather might be a little moody, we promise nothing you can’t handle. Stay tuned, stay dry, and keep those umbrellas close because you never know when the clouds might decide it’s time for a little shower party!
