As Rewa gears up for their upcoming match against Labasa in round two of the Pillay Garments Champion v Champion tournament, head coach Priyant Mannu emphasizes the need for refinement in key areas following their recent 1-0 win over the Babasiga Lions at home in Nausori.

Mannu acknowledged that the first game revealed both strengths and weaknesses within the team. “We need to manage the ball well and also our finishing. If we get chances, we have to finish it off,” he stated, highlighting the importance of capitalizing on opportunities as they prepare for their rematch against Labasa.

The previous Sunday’s clash was marked by challenging weather conditions, with heavy rain prompting a debate among match officials about whether to proceed with the game. Despite the downpour, spectators packed the grandstand at Ratu Cakobau Park, displaying impressive resilience as they moved to higher ground to avoid the rain.

On the other hand, Labasa’s coach Alvin Chand is eager to address areas needing improvement as they prepare to host the Delta Tigers at Subrail Park. He expressed confidence in using the upcoming week to reassess their strategy after experiencing significant changes within the squad. “We have one whole week to prepare and we have seen now what are the areas of improvement,” Chand remarked.

The Champion v Champion tournament pits the champions of the Fiji FACT against the Inter-District Championship winners in a contest for the prestigious title, making the stakes high for both teams as they seek to refine their gameplay and secure victory in this competitive environment. As both Rewa and Labasa focus on their preparations, fans can expect a thrilling match filled with high tension and exceptional talent on display.
