Fiji National Women’s striker Cema Nasau has recently joined New Zealand’s Eastern Suburbs, marking an exciting development in her football career. The 25-year-old player hails from Ba and has previously been recognized for her performances with the Ba Women’s club in national leagues, as well as her contributions to the Fiji women’s national team.

Fiji Football Association CEO Mohammad Yusuf has praised Nasau’s transition to a professional club, describing it as a well-deserved achievement and acknowledging her as one of the most talented strikers in the nation. He also confirmed that despite her professional commitments, Nasau will return to represent Fiji in the upcoming OFC Women’s Nations Cup scheduled to take place in Fiji this July.

This move, however, leaves the Ba Women’s team without their usual striker as they prepare for the OFC Women’s Champions League in Tahiti. Yusuf expressed his confidence in the team’s depth, assuring that they have several capable players ready to step into Nasau’s role and continue to push for success in the tournament.

Ba Women’s first match in the OFC Women’s Champions League is set for Sunday against Penama Tigers FC at 3 PM. As the team embarks on this significant journey, they aim not only to compete but to showcase the growing talent of women’s football in Fiji.

The signing of Cema Nasau is a hopeful sign for the future of women’s football in Fiji, reflecting the increasing recognition of female athletes in sports. With continued support and opportunities, Nasau’s achievements can inspire budding footballers in Fiji, encouraging them to pursue their passion in the sport.
