On the eve of the 65th anniversary of Ratu Sukuna Memorial School (RSMS), a delegation of alumni, teachers, students, and parents visited the President of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at State House. This visit served to acknowledge the President’s acceptance of an invitation to officiate at the school’s Blue Sapphire Anniversary celebrations, set to take place this Saturday at Ratu Sukuna Park in Suva.

Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, a former student of RSMS, welcomed the group warmly and expressed appreciation for being part of such a significant milestone. He reflected on how his time at the school significantly shaped his life and leadership journey, emphasizing that the lessons he learned there have stayed with him throughout his life.

In his address, the President encouraged current students to value education, stating, “To be successful in life, there are three things we must always remember: our faith, obedience to our parents, and the pursuit of greatness through education.” This sentiment underscores the ongoing emphasis on the importance of education in shaping future leaders.

Etonia Radrodro Serukeibau, representing the RSMS Alumni National Executive Committee, highlighted this 65th Anniversary as a moment to honor the institution’s legacy of producing capable leaders and responsible citizens. “For 65 years, Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Memorial School has continued to nurture generations of individuals who uphold the values and discipline instilled by Ratu Sukuna,” he stated.

The upcoming Blue Sapphire celebration is expected to attract hundreds of former students and supporters, showcasing the enduring impact of one of Fiji’s most respected educational institutions. This event not only commemorates the school’s history but also serves as a beacon of hope for future generations, illustrating the lasting influence of educational values in Fiji’s society.

Overall, the ongoing celebrations reflect the community’s commitment to education and cultural heritage while providing an uplifting environment for students to recognize their potential as future leaders. The messages from both the President and alumni serve as inspiration for the youth, fostering a future built on the principles of knowledge, integrity, and service.
