Celebrating Legacy: Book Launch Honoring Cultural Heritage

The Then India Sanmarga Ikya (TISI) Sangam honored one of its members, Chalmaiya Chetty, during the launch of his ‘South Indian Cultural Book’ at Subrail Park in Labasa last Friday.

National TISI president Praveen Kumar was presented with the first copy of the book by Mr. Chetty’s son, Keswan Chetty. The late Mr. Chetty, who hailed from Tabucola, Labasa, was a committed member of the TISI Sangam Labasa and dedicated himself to the preservation of the Hindi language and traditions.

Keswan Chetty expressed that the book outlines a commendable path for South Indian families to live a life of devotion. “This book serves as a guideline to preserve our South Indian culture,” he stated, extending gratitude to TISI for choosing this significant day to launch his father’s book.

“He meant everything to me and always instilled in me the importance of staying connected to my South Indian roots and taking pride in our identity,” he added.

Mr. Kumar emphasized that devoted individuals like the late Mr. Chetty are fundamental to the TISI Sangam community and encouraged other members to emulate his example. “This memorial day aims to inspire the new generation to aspire to be more like him.”
