The state has been granted an extension until May 26 to verify the availability of key CCTV footage in the case of Ilaisa Tanoa Degei, who is accused of raping a Virgin Australia cabin crew member. Degei, 24, appeared before Justice Sunil Sharma at the High Court in Lautoka on Monday.
The allegations date back to late last year when Degei reportedly assaulted the victim in Nadi. During the proceedings, state lawyer Payal Reddy brought to the court’s attention that there was an issue related to the accessibility of the CCTV footage. Ms. Reddy stated a request was made to liaise with the investigating officer within the next 21 days.
