Authorities in the Northern Division are alerting the public to road closures caused by flooding, urging motorists to be extremely cautious while traveling. Several roads, including Boubale Crossing on Qawa Road, Konasami Low Level Crossing on Dreketilailai Road, and Zailav Low Level Crossing on Zailav Road in Seaqaqa, have become impassable due to high water levels and the risk of washouts.
Despite the closures, some routes remain accessible to traffic. The Narailagi Low Level Crossing on Narailagi Road, as well as Nakorotari Crossing and Wailevu Tiri Road in Labasa, are open, but only to 4×4 vehicles. Motorists are advised to stay alert, as rapidly changing conditions could increase the risks posed by debris and washouts on all roads.
In light of these challenges, it’s essential for the community to prioritize safety and stay informed about road conditions. As the situation evolves, coordination between local authorities and the public will be crucial in ensuring safe travel.
This incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of weather and the importance of being prepared and vigilant during such events. With continued cooperation and awareness, the community can navigate these challenges together.
