Canada has commenced its participation in the Oceania Rugby U20s Challenge with an impressive victory against Samoa, winning 44-20 in their opening match at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Despite a strong start from Samoa, who scored two quick tries through captain Totoa Auva’a and Christian Lealofi, Canada quickly regrouped with two efforts from number eight Liam Kinghorn and halfback Stephen Webb. Samoa’s En-Hakorey Pepese temporarily pushed them ahead with a corner try, leading the score to 17-13 at one point. However, Canada managed to pull back just before halftime, scoring to lead 18-17.

The second half saw a dynamic performance from Canada as they capitalized on a loose ball to extend their lead. Josh McIndoe, Canada’s flyhalf, made a notable break to cross the try line, contributing to a score of 32-20. As they maintained pressure on Samoa throughout the half, second five-eighth Jimmy Leach also crossed for a try, further solidifying Canada’s dominance.
