Kadavu Provincial Secondary School celebrated a historic occasion on Wednesday with its inaugural cadet passing-out parade. The event featured Colonel Penioni Naliva, the Chief of Staff at the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Land Force Command, as the guest of honor.

In his speech, Colonel Naliva highlighted the critical role discipline and education play in developing future leaders. He stated, “If each cadet upholds discipline and pursues a good education, they will be equipped to tackle the major issues facing our nation today.” He expressed concern over the growing prevalence of drug use and violence among youth, which he described as significant challenges facing the country.

Colonel Naliva emphasized that the cadet program is vital in addressing such issues and equipping young people with the necessary skills to navigate life’s difficulties. His remarks resonate with similar sentiments shared by Colonel Jofiliti Gadevulatolu Talemaibau during a recent parade at Suva Grammar School, where he underscored the importance of a disciplined upbringing and a collective effort to cultivate a drug-free Fiji.

As the cadet program gains momentum, it signifies hope for the future, aiming to guide young individuals towards positive decisions and responsible citizenship. Such initiatives play an essential role in shaping the character and discipline of the youth, ultimately contributing to a safer and more prosperous society.
