A bakery business in Dama, Bua, is bringing benefits to the local community while also enhancing its operations. Tevita Loga, a 56-year-old entrepreneur, is behind the establishment named Three T’s, which has experienced significant growth in its short time of operation.

The bakery has been running for just over a month and has already attracted plenty of local customers, especially from nearby Dama. The business was initiated to address the scarcity of baked goods in the area, where residents often struggle to find fresh products.

Loga noted that the bakery aims to support the local community, which consists of around 130 families in the surrounding villages. Residents usually travel considerable distances of up to 200 kilometers to purchase baked goods in locations like Labasa and Nabouwalu, highlighting the demand for accessible options.

In just three weeks, the bakery has demonstrated promising progress, with locals eagerly purchasing bread, cream buns, cheese buns, pizzas, coconut rolls, and various pastries. Loga emphasized that the bakery serves as a valuable resource for those in the area, especially for those who have become unemployed.

However, the business faces challenges, particularly in sourcing materials, as deliveries can be delayed from other areas. There are plans to further enhance the bakery’s offerings to meet local demands, especially for popular products such as pizza.

Overall, this initiative represents a significant step toward improving local food accessibility and economic stability within the community, with hopes for continued development and support from government initiatives aimed at fostering small businesses.
