During a special occasion that coincided with His Majesty King Charles III’s service, the British Army 7s team played a fiercely contested match against the Drua 7s in their opening pool game at the McDonalds Coral Coast Fiji 7s. The match concluded in a 10-all draw, showcasing the competitive spirit of both teams.

The British players demonstrated resilience, matching the physical intensity brought by the Drua team, who had been gearing up with months of off-season and pre-season training as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition. Warrant Officer Class 2 Vanavasa Bai, who serves as the team manager, highlighted the importance of sticking to their training and strategy.

“Our main message is to play our structure according to what we’ve been training for over the last few days and months,” WO2 Bai explained, emphasizing the focus on executing their game plan. He also noted the appeal of the Coral Coast venue, which has gained international recognition and attracted numerous overseas teams looking to enjoy the sport in such a picturesque setting.

The British Army 7s team’s participation in the Coral Coast Fiji 7s not only signifies their competitive spirit but also underscores the growing popularity of rugby on a global scale. This event provides a unique platform for teams worldwide to connect through their shared passion for the game in a stunning locale.
