The Nadroga Navosa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NNCCI) has hailed the inauguration of BRED Bank’s Sigatoka branch as a significant achievement for the local economy. NNCCI President Suresh Naidu emphasized that the bank’s establishment in Sigatoka enhances economic diversification and provides better access to financial services, especially for small and medium enterprises and the agricultural sector.

Naidu considers the new branch a testament to the confidence in Sigatoka’s growth and its economic resilience. He pointed out the crucial role competition plays in the banking sector, stating that a new bank in the region fosters better quality of service and competitive financial offerings for local businesses.

The proximity of the bank to farmers and rural producers in the Nadroga–Navosa region is particularly beneficial. With the Sigatoka branch now operational, farmers can avoid long trips and limited banking hours, allowing them to manage their finances more efficiently after selling their produce at the Sigatoka Market.

Additionally, Naidu underscored the need for well-regulated financing for agriculture, advocating for access to loans that can aid in acquiring farm machinery, climate-resilient seeds, and land development. He envisions BRED Bank as a prospective ally in promoting financial literacy, helping farmers move from cash-based transactions to digital savings and comprehensive financial planning.

Reflecting on the past year, Naidu remarked on the remarkable resilience of the local economy, from the vibrant streets of Sigatoka to the renowned resorts along the Coral Coast. He reaffirmed the Chamber’s dedication to being a supportive voice and partner in driving growth for the community.
