Newly crowned WBA Women’s Australasia Welterweight boxing champion, Sera Bolatini, is set to contribute to her rugby team’s efforts when Nasinu faces Jacks Nadi in the second round of the Marama Cup at Prince Charles Park. Bolatini made history last month by becoming the first Fijian woman to win an international boxing title at the ZEG Kings Promotion event held at Vodafone Arena in Suva.
Bolatini, who has transitioned from a successful rugby career with the Fijiana 7s team, will wear the number 14 jersey for Nasinu, which will be led by captain Silika Qalo. Ana Lutunauca is designated as the fullback. Meanwhile, Nadi will benefit from the talents of national representative Michelle Seruvatu, alongside skilled players such as Aseri Galo and Merewalesi Rokouono.
The match is scheduled for 11 AM, followed by a Skipper Cup clash between Nadi and Macuata at 3 PM. Both games will be broadcast live on FBC Sports.
Bolatini’s inspiring journey from rugby to boxing highlights the growing opportunities for women in sports, demonstrating resilience and determination. Her achievements not only signify personal milestones but also serve as motivation for aspiring female athletes in Fiji. As she continues to excel in both sports, Bolatini embodies the spirit of perseverance, with a hopeful outlook for the future of women’s sports in Fiji.
