Balata College in Tavua proudly announced a remarkable 100 percent pass rate in the Year 13 Certificate Exam for 2025. This achievement places the institution among several rural schools acknowledged by the Ministry of Education for reaching this significant milestone.

School principal Umendran Reddy expressed immense pride in the students’ accomplishment, attributing their success to the dedication of students, parents, and teachers. He highlighted the countless hours teachers invested in tutoring and supervising students in the months leading up to the exams. “Our teachers diligently spent afternoons and Saturdays helping our students prepare,” Mr. Reddy noted.

The principal also extended appreciation to the Ministry of Education for its continuous support, emphasizing that their assistance has played a crucial role in enhancing the school’s academic performance over the years. “I want to thank the ministry for always answering our calls for assistance and for encouraging us to improve our academic performance every year,” he stated.

Vice principal Sudeshna Kumar, who oversees the school’s academic programs, shared that achieving a 100 percent pass rate in external exams has been one of her key goals. Having been at the school for eight years, she expressed her commitment to reaching this level of success. Mrs. Kumar mentioned that they narrowly missed this target in previous years, coming close with a 98 percent pass rate in 2020. “Since that time, we have been working tirelessly to achieve this milestone. We are very happy that we finally did it,” she concluded.

This outstanding result not only reflects the hard work and dedication of everyone involved but also serves as inspiration for other schools striving for academic excellence. The commitment of Balata College’s staff and students showcases the power of teamwork and perseverance in the pursuit of educational achievements.
