Bail has been granted to 49-year-old Niraj Surend Prasad, who is facing charges related to the theft of an ATM card belonging to 86-year-old Malakai Kauwale on January 5 in Suva. The proceedings took place before Magistrate Charles Ratakele, where Police Prosecutor Inspector Reddy indicated that the police had no objections to granting bail, provided Mr. Prasad resides with his father throughout the duration of the court case.
Magistrate Ratakele approved bail with a total bond set at $900, which includes a personal bond of $500 from Mr. Prasad and bonds of $200 each from his two sureties, his father and uncle. The court has mandated that the accused adhere to all conditions of bail as the case progresses.
The next hearing is scheduled for March 10, when Mr. Prasad is expected to enter a plea. This development underscores the legal process at work and the importance of ensuring compliance with court orders as the case evolves.
