Delays in the distribution of the $200 Back-to-School Assistance have sparked concerns among parents across the nation. Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro addressed these worries, stating that 95 percent of eligible applications, which cover over 190,000 students, have already been processed and paid.
Radrodro explained that the remaining five percent of applications are experiencing delays due to incomplete information, late submissions from schools, and data errors. He reassured parents and guardians, emphasizing that every valid application will be processed and that the Ministry is collaborating closely with the Ministry of Finance to expedite the release of payments.
To address the situation, Ministry teams are working additional hours, including weekends, to verify outstanding applications. The Minister reiterated his commitment to ensuring that no eligible student will be left behind. Since January 19, the Ministry has successfully processed more than 12,000 application forms and addressed over 20,000 inquiries from parents and guardians.
Staff members are diligently checking each application to identify and resolve any compliance issues. Radrodro also pointed out that once the current verifications are concluded, the Ministry will turn its attention to Year 13 students who are still enrolling for 2026, ensuring that they too receive the necessary support.
Highlighting the importance of timely and accurate submissions, Radrodro encouraged parents and schools to provide complete information to prevent further delays. The Ministry remains focused on maintaining transparency and efficiency, striving to ensure that all eligible students receive their Back-to-School Assistance without unnecessary holdups. This commitment demonstrates a proactive approach to education support, emphasizing the government’s dedication to the well-being of students.
