BA Town experienced significant disruption yesterday morning as the Ba River overflowed, leading to widespread flooding that impacted daily life and activities in the area. Major thoroughfares, including the Rarawai FSC Mill Road and its bridge, were submerged, causing many residents to wade through knee-deep water while trying to reach their homes.

Litiana Lebaivalu, a local resident, shared her challenges with the flood, stating she was forced to return home from work due to the rising waters. The flooding affected not only workers but also halted business activities and impeded travel throughout Ba Town.

Authorities have advised residents to exercise caution and avoid any non-essential travel as they begin to assess the flood damage. Police have been deployed to oversee public safety and manage movement throughout the town. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu has urged the community to prepare for potentially worsening conditions, as more reports of flooding emerged.

While the situation is undoubtedly serious, it highlights the community’s resilience and the efforts of local authorities to ensure safety and recovery. The proactive measures taken by law enforcement and community members show a united response to the adversity posed by natural events.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of emergency preparedness and community solidarity in times of crisis. With continued vigilance and cooperation, Ba Town can work toward recovery and rebuilding.
