Ba Golf Club recently hosted its inaugural Monthly Medal tournament on Sunday, with local professional golfer and lawyer Vikrant Chandra serving as the proud sponsor. The event brought together players from diverse skill levels, showcasing a remarkable display of talent and competitive spirit.
Vikrant Chandra, a former national number one amateur golfer and a prominent figure in Fiji’s golfing community, excelled at the tournament, clinching the Best Gross title in the professional category with a stunning score of 67.
In the overall competition, Dhinesh Narayan emerged as the Overall Net Winner, while Asish Chand, who is also the Ba Golf Club Captain, took home the Overall Gross Winner’s title. The day’s results included impressive performances across various grades, with Ashwin Sharma (A Grade), Rajnesh Sharma (B Grade), and Ravinesh Chand (C Grade) each securing top positions in their respective divisions.
Special prizes were awarded for exceptional feats, with Asish Chand achieving the Longest Drive and Damon Chen claiming the Nearest to the Pin award. Additionally, Ravinesh Chand’s exceptional shot earned him the accolade for the 2nd Best Shot of the day.
Following the event, Asish Chand expressed gratitude for Vikrant Chandra’s steadfast support over the years. He emphasized Chandra’s lasting impact on the club, noting, “Mr. Chandra has been one of our biggest supporters. His dedication to the game and to Ba Golf Club is truly commendable.”
Vikrant Chandra’s journey in golf began at Ba Golf Club at the age of 10, and since then, he has made significant contributions to the sport, both as a player and now as President of the Fiji Professional Golfers Association (FPGA). He has committed to ongoing support for Ba Golf Club, which promises a bright future for the sport within the community.
