Ba Football president Praneel Dayal has provided a candid evaluation of the district’s performance during the 2025 season, admitting that it did not meet the high expectations associated with Ba’s storied football legacy. With a commitment to restoring the club to its former glory, Dayal is focusing on a comprehensive rebuilding process aimed at bringing trophies back to Govind Park.
“Success for us has always been about winning championships, not just achieving close calls or settling for runner-up titles,” Dayal stated, reflecting on a season that he deemed unsuccessful in terms of silverware. Since taking the helm in June 2025, he has dedicated himself to revitalizing Ba Football from its roots.
“My administration is here not merely to maintain the current state but to initiate a full overhaul of the entire association,” he explained. Dayal emphasized that the work currently underway may not produce immediate results but is essential for long-term success, stating, “We are laying the groundwork now to ensure that trophies return to their rightful place.”
Despite the team’s struggles on the field, Dayal highlighted a significant achievement: rekindling the faith and confidence of Ba’s loyal supporters. He observed a palpable shift from uncertainty to renewed belief among fans and officials since he took office. “The most rewarding achievement has been seeing that the community now believes in my administration,” he remarked.
A notable highlight for this season was hosting the Inter-District Championship at Govind Park, celebrating Ba Football’s 90th anniversary. Dayal described the event as an emotional victory for the community, even though the trophy did not remain in Ba.
Looking forward, Dayal aims to transform this renewed belief into measurable success. “I have the support of our fans, and now it’s my responsibility to work alongside the officials to deliver the trophies they deserve,” he asserted.
Central to Ba’s rebuilding plans is the establishment of a modern, professional football structure. Recently, Roderick Singh was appointed as the Director of Football, tasked with overseeing the development of the game across the entire district, including grassroots programs. “His focus is not just on the Premier team but also on supporting our youth initiatives,” Dayal conveyed.
While acknowledging that the anticipated results are still forthcoming, Dayal maintains a positive outlook, confident that Ba is progressing in the right direction. He pointed out that Ba is the first district to implement a full-time, professional technical structure.
Reconnecting with the club’s rich history remains a priority for Dayal, who is actively involving former players in the current setup. “This is the people’s team, and our legends are essential to our progress,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of leveraging their experience on the field.
Former Ba and national team players have been integrated into critical roles, enhancing areas like goalkeeping, defense, and offense. Dayal reiterated that the doors remain open for all former champions to contribute, whether through coaching or mentorship, ensuring that the legacy of the “Men in Black” lives on.
In an appeal to fans, Dayal urged continued support and belief in the club’s motto, #StrongerTogether. “I have devoted myself entirely to Ba Football since my election in June, feeling the same pain as our supporters when the team falls short. My ultimate goal is to refill our trophy cabinet, and I won’t rest until we achieve that.”
