The Ba Football Association has confirmed that its recent formal complaint to police pertains to a single individual amid ongoing investigations into alleged social media harassment involving the organization. This statement follows the arrest of a doctor on Sunday related to the alleged creation of a Facebook page, which reportedly disseminated fake and defamatory content targeting the Ba FA, the Fiji Football Association, and its president, Praneel Dayal.

In response to the situation, the police acknowledged in a statement on their official Facebook page that they are investigating the matter after receiving the complaint from Dayal. The Ba FA emphasized that their complaint is specifically aimed at the doctor for allegedly generating fraudulent social media pages and spreading misinformation regarding the district and its officials.

The association made it clear that it has not lodged complaints against any other individuals who are currently under police questioning. They noted that this questioning is part of the Fiji Police Force’s independent inquiry to trace the origins and extent of the alleged misinformation.

Dayal expressed that the primary concern of the district is the well-being of its football community. “Our focus is on protecting the integrity of the ‘Men in Black.’ We have identified a specific source of what we believe to be malicious misinformation and have left that matter in the hands of the authorities,” he stated.

He further assured that the association does not plan to take disciplinary action against any members of the football community who may have inadvertently become involved in the investigation. The spread of unverified information poses a potential threat to players, officials, sponsors, and supporters. However, Dayal reiterated the Ba FA’s commitment to respect the legal process and uphold the presumption of innocence.

Despite these challenges off the field, Dayal mentioned that the Ba FA is steadfast in its preparations for the 2026 football season, focusing on rebuilding and strengthening its position as a competitive force within local football. The ongoing police investigations signify a commitment to addressing and resolving these issues, ensuring a stable environment for the club’s future activities.
