The NZFFI Auckland All Stars successfully defended their title at the Pacific Community Cup, held at Churchill Park in Lautoka, by defeating the Manukau All Stars with a score of 2-0 in an exciting final.
The victory was secured with two early goals from guest players Eber Ramirez and Nicolas Bobadilla, showcasing the effectiveness of the team coached by Josaia Bukalidi. Despite the efforts of the Manukau All Stars, who sought to equalize in the second half, they were met with a formidable defense led by Mohammed Shuaib Khan and Gabriel Matanisiga, which effectively kept their opponents from scoring.
In the semifinals, Auckland All Stars had already demonstrated their prowess by beating hosts Lautoka 2-0, while Manukau All Stars also secured a 2-0 victory against the USA All Stars.
As champions, Auckland All Stars were awarded a cash prize of $10,000 FJD, while the runners-up, Manukau All Stars, received $3,000. Personal accolades included Mohammed Nabeel from Auckland All Stars being named the Player of the Tournament, while goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara received the Golden Glove award. Manukau’s Garbhan Coughlan earned the Golden Boot for scoring seven goals in the tournament, and the AuFFI All Stars were recognized as the Fairest Team.
