Aspen Medical has firmly denied allegations from the Construction Energy, Timber, Workers Union of Fiji (CETWUF) regarding a lack of communication between the two entities. The organization stated that discussions have been ongoing and that they have been actively addressing workplace concerns raised by union members.

In October 2024, the CETWUF was prompted to share any concerns reported by its members, leading to the union highlighting issues related to overdue overtime and public holiday payments. Aspen Medical responded, indicating that these matters were already being dealt with. Executive Director of Culture and Performance, Edwin Aisake, emphasized that the union had been informed about the clarification needed on seven separate occasions.

Aspen Medical reassured both the public and its stakeholders that they are fully committed to maintaining uninterrupted healthcare services at their facilities in the event of a strike. Aisake asserted that the health and safety of patients and staff remain their utmost priority.

Furthermore, Aspen Medical is currently seeking clarification from relevant government authorities regarding specific contract provisions affecting employees who transitioned to their hospitals from the government after the operational takeover. This step is seen as vital before Aspen Medical continues discussions with unions, including CETWUF.

In summary, Aspen Medical remains dedicated to resolving any disputes with union representatives while ensuring that their healthcare services will not be impacted. Their proactive approach and commitment to communication signal a positive outlook for both patients and employees alike, emphasizing that staff wellbeing and patient care are at the forefront of their operations.
