A southeast flow will keep most of the Fiji group partly cloudy with brief showers in eastern and northern areas, while much of the country remains largely fine. Moderate to fresh southeast winds are expected and seas will be moderate to rough, so coastal conditions will be choppy in places. Isolated afternoon or evening showers are likely about many coastal and lowland areas, with the chance of isolated thunderstorms over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
Brief showers are most likely over Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, Cakaudrove, southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Elsewhere conditions should be generally fine apart from isolated afternoon or evening showers. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms remain a possibility for parts of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, so expect brief periods of heavier rain and lightning where storms develop.
Winds will be moderate to fresh from the southeast, bringing a steady breeze across exposed coasts. With seas forecast to be moderate to rough, small boats and coastal users should take care and consider sea conditions before heading out. Beachgoers and swimmers should be mindful of stronger currents and choppy surf in exposed areas.
The outlook for Friday is similar: cloudy periods with brief showers across the Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, Cakaudrove, southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby islands, while other districts remain mostly fine apart from isolated showers. Isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms may again affect Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
Local forecasts for the coming days: Navua/Suva/Nausori and Natadradave/Korovou expect partly cloudy skies with brief showers, daytime highs around 31°C and lows near 21–22°C. Yasawa/Mamanuca should stay mainly fine with highs near 31°C. Sigatoka/Coral Coast, Nadi/Lautoka/Ba, Tavua/Rakiraki and Labasa are mostly fine but can expect afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms, with daytime highs to about 33°C in some western and northern towns. Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Taveuni are partly cloudy with brief showers, lows around 21–22°C and highs near 31°C. Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu are also forecast partly cloudy with brief showers, with similar temperatures.
For Rotuma: a southeasterly wind flow currently prevails and a trough of low pressure is likely to affect the island from tomorrow. Some showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds and moderate to rough seas. Temperatures are around 24–32°C, with Friday’s outlook showing cloudy periods and some showers.
