An easterly wind flow will dominate the Fiji group, with a weak trough of low pressure expected to affect the eastern islands from later tomorrow. Cloudy periods with showers and isolated heavy falls are likely in several eastern and central areas, while most other districts can expect generally fair conditions with the chance of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms.
The heaviest and most persistent rain is forecast for Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, southern Bua, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Afternoon or evening thunderstorms are also likely over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, with isolated heavy falls possible in those wetter zones. Rotuma remains under the influence of a weak trough with cloudy periods, showers and isolated thunderstorms, accompanied by moderate to fresh northeasterly winds.
Western and some central coastal areas should see mainly fine conditions through the day, turning to the more usual afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. Places such as Yasawa and Mamanuca, Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, Nadi, Lautoka and Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki and Labasa are forecast to be fine apart from these late-day showers; daytime highs in many centres will reach around 31–33°C with overnight lows near 22–23°C as indicated for local towns like Navua/Suva/Nausori and Nadi/Lautoka/Ba.
Winds will be moderate to fresh from the east across the group, and seas are expected to be moderate to rough. Mariners and anyone planning coastal activities should take the sea state into account, particularly around the eastern islands and Rotuma where conditions are less settled. Where heavy or prolonged showers occur, brief flooding or reduced visibility in heavy rain and lightning with thunderstorms may temporarily affect travel and outdoor activities.
The outlook for Wednesday remains much the same: cloudy periods with showers and isolated heavy falls over the eastern and central areas listed above, and fine weather apart from afternoon or evening showers elsewhere. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are likely again over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, with temperatures holding near the recent daily ranges.
