A westerly wind flow prevails across Fiji while a trough of low pressure northeast of the group is bringing increased cloud and shower activity, the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi said in a bulletin issued at 7:30pm on Friday 10 April 2026. Associated cloud and showers are expected to affect the northern and eastern divisions from later tonight and will gradually spread to the remainder of the group by tomorrow.

Today the southern and western parts of Viti Levu (including Momi, Nadroga/Navosa, Serua and Namosi), Kadavu, Lomaiviti and the Lau group can expect cloudy periods with brief showers. Elsewhere conditions are partly cloudy with isolated afternoon or evening showers and a few thunderstorms. From tonight, occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely to develop over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti, increasing into tomorrow when the northern and eastern divisions will see occasional showers and isolated heavy falls with thunderstorms. These heavier bursts are expected to spread south over Viti Levu and across the rest of the group by the afternoon.

Isolated heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas, so residents in vulnerable locations should take care. Winds are forecast to be moderate from the west, becoming predominantly northwesterly later today, and seas are moderate. The outlook for Sunday is for occasional showers and a few thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls over most places, easing to some showers later in the day; winds will be moderate from the northeast to northwest before turning southeasterly later, with seas becoming moderate to rough.

Across key centres, expect warm, humid conditions with showers at times. Navua, Suva and Nausori will see cloudy periods with brief showers (tomorrow’s range 23–30°C) and an outlook of occasional showers and a few thunderstorms on Sunday. Nadi, Lautoka and Ba can expect partly cloudy spells with afternoon or evening showers and highs near 30–31°C. Northern centres including Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Taveuni will have partly cloudy conditions with isolated showers, with tomorrow’s daytime temperatures generally in the low 30s and an elevated risk of isolated heavy falls into Sunday.

Rotuma remains affected by the trough with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms, moderate to fresh northwesterly winds and moderate to rough seas. Tomorrow’s temperatures there are around 23–30°C, with an outlook of cloudy periods and some showers with possible thunderstorms.
