The Axellerate Aflame Brothers are gearing up to defend their title at the 49th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament, which commences today at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. After their impressive victory last year, where they triumphed 12-0 over the Tubarua Highlanders, the team is eager to once again showcase their skills on this illustrious stage.

Team manager Emmanuel Fumanu expressed his pride in the team’s preparations, particularly following a tough performance at the Nawaka 7s last weekend. “Preparations went well throughout the week. We are so excited to participate in the final leg of the Fiji Bitter series and are looking forward to another great weekend of rugby,” Fumanu stated.

This year’s tournament is set to offer intense competition, and Fumanu emphasized the need for focus and commitment, especially in light of their challenging pool draws that include several formidable opponents. He assured fans that despite some minor injuries, the younger players in the squad are ready to step up and make impactful contributions.

Fumanu also encouraged rugby enthusiasts across Fiji to come and support the Aflame Brothers as they aim for another championship title at the Marist 7s. In addition, he took a moment to celebrate the achievement of Sikeli Basiyalo Jnr, who has been selected for the Fiji 7s team to compete in Hong Kong.

This tournament not only features a dynamic array of teams but also highlights Fiji’s rich rugby heritage, reinforcing its role as a crucial platform for nurturing talent and fostering community engagement through sports. As fans gather to witness the matches, the excitement mounts, promising thrilling encounters that will create lasting memories and strengthen bonds within the rugby community.

The continued celebration of rugby in Fiji is a beacon of hope, inspiring young athletes and uniting communities in a shared passion for the sport, showcasing the unifying power of rugby on a national scale.
