A significant investment of $900,000 has been designated for clean and safe drinking water initiatives in Niurua and Naqumu villages, located in Macuata. This announcement was made by Revoni Rakasa, the Macuata provincial administrator, during a presentation at the Macuata Provincial Council meeting held in Sasa Village on Friday.
In addition, Rakasa indicated that the government has allocated a substantial $637 million to enhance infrastructure and services throughout the northern region, which includes Macuata. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that residents in the Northern Division have reliable access to essential services.
Funds from this allocation are planned for vital projects that focus on improvements and maintenance across various sectors, including roads, water supply, communication, and market access. Rakasa noted that several projects have already been identified for funding.
Furthermore, he reassured the community that the government is dedicated to helping those in need, understanding that some projects may take time to implement. He highlighted the government’s earlier efforts in disaster relief, noting that over $655 million was spent last year to assist communities recovering from natural disasters, demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting affected populations.
This proactive approach to infrastructure development and community support signals a hopeful future for the residents of the Northern Division, reflecting the government’s determination to improve living standards and resilience in the face of challenges.
