The Fiji Police Force has shortlisted 3,121 candidates for the elimination phase of its Basic Recruits Course Batch 70, the force confirmed, with assessments now underway across the Central, Western and Northern divisions.

Elimination assessments for the Central Division began on March 29 at Nasova Grounds in Suva. Western Division candidates are scheduled to attend their assessments from March 30 to April 3 and must report to the Lautoka Police Station on their allocated dates. Northern Division candidates will sit the elimination phase from April 6 to April 10 at the Labasa Police Station training room.

Police said the elimination phase is a key screening stage in the recruitment process for the Basic Recruits Course, during which candidates will be assessed before being considered for progression to subsequent stages of police training. The large number of shortlisted applicants reflects continued interest in police service roles across the three main divisions.

Candidates have been given specific instructions on appearance and equipment for the assessment days. They are required to wear neat civilian attire — including shoes, sandals or pumps — when reporting. For physical tests, applicants must bring physical training gear consisting of a white round-neck T-shirt and black shorts, together with canvas shoes. Candidates were also advised to pack sufficient food and water for the day and any additional refreshments they may need.

Those attending in the Western and Northern divisions have been reminded to turn up on their allocated reporting dates at the designated police facilities to ensure orderly processing. Police did not release a breakdown of shortlisted applicants by division or detail the exact nature of each assessment during the elimination phase.

The recruitment cycle for Batch 70 continues the force’s periodic intake of trainees into the Basic Recruits Course, which trains new officers for service across Fiji. Successful candidates from the elimination phase will move on to further selection stages and training, leading to formal enlistment if they meet all requirements.
