30 April 2026 Fiji forecast: Partly cloudy with scattered showers and isolated afternoon thunderstorms over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, southeast winds and rough seas

Stormy weather over a tropical beach with a boat on the shore.

Partly cloudy conditions with brief showers are affecting many parts of the group, while most other areas remain generally fine with only isolated afternoon or evening showers. Isolated thunderstorms are possible, particularly over the interior of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Southeast winds are expected to be moderate to fresh and seas moderate to rough across the region.

The most persistent brief showers are forecast for Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, Cakaudrove, southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Elsewhere, conditions should be largely fine apart from the chance of an isolated afternoon or evening shower. The general outlook for Saturday notes cloudy periods with some showers in the same coastal and island areas, while most other districts should remain mainly fine with isolated showers possible.

Interior areas of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu should watch for the possibility of isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms; these can bring brief heavy rain and gusty winds. Mariners and coastal communities should also take note of moderate to rough seas under the prevailing moderate to fresh southeast winds. Rotuma remains under a southeasterly flow with a trough nearby, bringing cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms, along with moderate to fresh southeasterlies and moderate to rough seas.

Local temperatures are warm and stable. Navua, Suva and Nausori can expect a daytime maximum around 31°C with overnight minima near 22°C and similar conditions into the next day. Nadi, Lautoka and Ba are the warmest on the main islands with daytime highs near 33°C and nighttime lows about 22°C. Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, Tavua and Rakiraki, Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups and Kadavu will see daytime highs generally around 31–33°C and overnight lows mostly near 22–23°C. The Yasawa and Mamanuca islands remain mainly fine with highs near 31°C and slightly warmer minimums around 23°C. Rotuma’s temperatures are a touch higher, with a maximum around 32°C and minimums near 24°C.

Brief showers are likely and conditions can change quickly, so carry light rain protection if you’re heading outdoors this afternoon or evening. Those planning to be on the water should allow for choppier conditions and take usual precautions given the moderate to rough seas and freshening southeast winds.
