In the past month, individuals aged 18 to 35 were involved in the highest number of criminal offenses. Acting Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci reported that a total of 838 individuals were charged with various crimes. Among those charged, 48 were juveniles, while the majority of offenders aged 18 to 35 accounted for 486 cases. Offenders aged 36 to 55 numbered 266, and those aged 56 and older totaled 38.
Commissioner Raikaci expressed concern over the ongoing involvement of juveniles in crime, emphasizing the negative impact on their education and future prospects. He called for greater support from families, communities, and other stakeholders in guiding and mentoring young individuals.
As the festive season approaches, the Fiji Police Force plans to intensify its operations and urges everyone to adhere to the rule of law to ensure safer communities for all.
