Hailing from Yadrana Village on Lakeba, the father-son duo belongs to the yavusa (tribe) Drekeivuci, traditionally seen as warriors, or bati, to the paramount chief of Lau Province.
Leading up to the installation, an excited Josefa expressed his wish to serve as a club bearer, and with his father’s encouragement, he was excited to take part. “This is something I’ll always remember,” Josefa shared, reflecting on the joy of being the youngest participant from the clan and the preparations that went into ensuring he fulfilled his responsibilities culturally and spiritually.
